Chinook Charter has a satisfactory carrier profile with the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission and the Federal Motor Carrier Association. Satisfactory is the highest ranking for a carrier. Click here for the links to these agencies.
All Chinook buses are under a stringent preventative maintenance program. We have a fulltime certified mechanic on duty Monday through Friday and on call on weekends.
Chinook is approved to transport school district students in the State of Washington.
All Chinook drivers are drug and alcohol tested prior to employment and in a random testing program that is coordinated through First Advantage (previously Lexis Nexis).
Chinook is fully insured by Lancer Insurance which is the largest and most experienced provider in the nation. Each passenger is insured for $500.000.00
Chinook driver adheres to Federal Hours of Service regulations that include:
Maximum 10 hours a day driving
Maximum 15 hours a day on duty
Minimum 8 consecutive hours off between days
Multiple drivers are used when itineraries exceed these limits
Each motor coach is equipped with a first aid kit, a fully charged fire extinguisher and a safety step for safe entrance and departure from the bus. Drivers wear reflective vests to maximize visibility when outside of the bus.
Each Chinook driver has:
Current CDL with passenger endorsement
Driving background check
DOT medical approval
Previous employee performance checks
Physical driving skills test
